How To Make Grilled Salmon In Foil

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 20 oz wild salmon (fresh or thawed from frozen)
  • 1 tsp coarse salt
  • 1 lemon sliced into thin slices with seeds removed
  • 1/2 oz fresh baby dill
  • 2 sprigs fresh parsley
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Step 1.

Pat salmon dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. Sprinkle salmon with salt and set aside. Melt the butter and stir in the garlic powder.

Step 2.

Preheat the grill to medium heat.

Step 3.

On a large sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil, place a few slices of lemon and a sprig of herbs.

Wrap salmon in foil, bringing the long sides of the foil together and rolling up the edges to seal.

Step 5.

Grill salmon for 7-8 minutes, uncover and check to see if fish flakes easily with a fork. If needed, grill for a few more minutes, uncovered, until fish is done. Perfectly cooked fish should be tender and flaky. Fish can take up to 12 minutes depending on the thickness. Be careful not to overcook the fish or it will get dry. I usually check at 8 minutes for doneness, unless it’s a thin filet. For thin fillets, check at 7 minutes and continue grilling until it falls apart with the fork. You can use 2 large 10 oz filets for this recipe or 4 smaller filets around 5 oz each. If using larger filets, just slice into four individual portions before serving.

What To Serve With Grilled Salmon

I love to garnish grilled wild salmon with more chopped fresh dill and parsley, melted butter, lemon wedges, and gourmet sea salts. Lemon and lime infused salts are amazing on grilled fish! My favorite side dishes for grilled seafood are grilled parmesan asparagus, grilled lemon balsamic asparagus, roasted broccoli, bacon fat roasted Brussels sprouts, Caribbean lime slaw, or Mediterranean Orzo pasta salad.

You could also skip the dill and make this recipe with parsley and lemon and top it with this incredible fresh tomato avocado relish. For a Mediterranean twist skip the lemon and dill and add this topping with artichokes, olives, and capers before grilling. These toppings are easy to make and SO good on grilled fish!!!
