What You’ll Need To Make An Orange Halloween Smoothie

  • Orange Juice – For the best flavor, I recommend using fresh-squeezed orange juice. However, you can also use fresh store-bought juice (not from concentrate). Simply Orange is my go-to brand.
  • Greek Yogurt – Plain nonfat or low-fat Greek yogurt gives this smoothie a creamy consistency.
  • Vanilla Whey Protein Powder – The added protein makes this smoothie more filling and satisfying (24 grams with the protein powder I used).
  • Frozen Pineapple (and/or frozen mango) – will chill the smoothie as it blends and add more delicious fruit flavor.

How To Make A Healthy Orange Smoothie with Yogurt

Step 1: In the pitcher of a blender add orange juice, yogurt, protein powder, and frozen pineapple (or mango).

Step 2: Blend until smooth and creamy.

Step 3: Pour smoothie into a Halloween-themed glass with a straw and serve.

Recipe Tips

  • To sneak in some veggies and make this orange smoothie even more orange, add carrot juice! Cut half of the orange juice and replace it with fresh-pressed or store-bought carrot juice.
  • Using frozen fruit instead of ice cubes to chill smoothies gives them a hike in nutrients and a creamier texture, but be sure to serve the drink immediately as the blended fruit will thaw quickly.
  • This recipe will give you a creamy smoothie just thin enough to drink through a straw. For a thicker consistency (perhaps for a smoothie bowl), add more Greek yogurt and frozen fruit. For a thinner consistency, add more juice.
  • Add a drop of orange food coloring for a pop of vibrant color.

Variations

  • Add banana. The Greek yogurt adds protein and thickens the smoothie. You could also add a banana without changing the color of the smoothie much.
  • Mix and match the frozen fruits. Truthfully, any frozen fruit can be added to this smoothie and it would be delicious. To keep it orange, you could use frozen apricots, papaya, peaches, cantaloupes, and nectarine.

Add orange veggies like pumpkin puree, steamed golden beets, and steamed sweet potatoes.
