Blueberry Lavender Mojito
Make the most of your summer drink menu with this easy Blueberry Lavender Mojito recipe. Thanks to sweet, juicy blueberries, cooling mint, lime juice, and lavender-infused blueberry syrup, there’s no shortage of refreshingly fruity and floral flavor in every sip!

If you’re craving an ice-cold cocktail that just screams summer, may I interest you in a mojito? At the core of this classic Cuban mixed drink is white rum, fresh lime juice, sugar, mint leaves, and soda water, which leaves plenty of room for creating a customized mojito flavor, such as strawberry, kiwi, or, in this case, blueberry and lavender!
I first encountered one of these minty blueberry lavender concoctions years ago at a friend’s cookout, and I’ve been dreaming about them ever since. Between the berry sweetness, tangy citrus, and herbal flavors, all topped off with a splash of club soda, it’s a cocktail as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate.
💡Time Saving Tip: If you want a great shortcut option, I love Sallie’s Greatest all-natural Blueberry + Lavender Simple Syrup. It adds a sweet, subtly fragrant dimension that ties the whole drink together. If you can’t find it or are more of a mixology purist, just go with the simple recipe to make lavender-infused blueberry syrup from scratch. I promise it’s incredibly easy to make! Either way, this mojito is refreshingly floral, fruity, and fun! You’re gonna love it.
Why You’ll Love It
- Unique flavor infusion. It blends a traditional mojito’s minty freshness with the sweet and floral notes of blueberries and lavender for an aromatic, extra elegant version.
- Simple to prepare. Whether using store-bought simple syrup or making your own (highly recommended!), this cocktail comes together effortlessly for any occasion.
- Customizable. You can experiment with different fruits, spirits, make it a mocktail, and more!
Ingredients you’ll need
- Blueberries. These juicy little berries are the drink’s fruity foundation. For the best flavor, use ripe, in-season blueberries. Frozen blueberries work, too (just thaw them first so they’re easier to muddle).
- Blueberry lavender simple syrup. You can use Sallie’s Greatest Blueberry + Lavender Simple Syrup here, but it’s super simple (and less expensive) to make from scratch (find the deets below).
- Mint leaves. A mojito must! When muddled gently, the leaves release cooling essential oils that balance out the sweetness of the syrup.
- White rum. The rum is the base spirit here, so go with one that’s smooth and clean (like Bacardi Superior). Avoid spiced or aged rums, as they’ll overpower the delicate flavors of blueberry and lavender.
- Lime juice. The tangy brightness from freshly squeezed lime juice makes all the difference in mojitos. Bottled lime juice just doesn’t compare.
- Club soda. Or sparkling water brings the signature light and refreshing fizz!
- Ice. Crushed or cubed because no one wants a room-temperature mojito.
Ingredients needed to make blueberry lavender simple syrup
- Blueberries. Fresh and frozen blueberries work (no thawing needed).
- Sugar. I like using organic cane sugar, but granulated white sugar works too.
- Water. This is the base of your syrup. Use filtered water for the cleanest taste.
- Lavender. The floral fragrance from fresh or even dried culinary lavender blends beautifully with the berries, but you can skip it altogether for a basic blueberry mojito.
How to make a blueberry lavender mojito
Step 1: Make the simple syrup. In a small saucepan, bring blueberries, sugar, and water to a boil. Reduce the heat, add lavender sprigs, and simmer for 10-12 minutes before straining through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing the berries to extract as much juice as possible.
Step 2: Muddle the flavor base. Add blueberries, mint leaves, and the cooked blueberry lavender simple syrup to a tall glass, then use a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon to press the ingredients together gently.
Step 3: Build the cocktail & serve. Fill the glass with ice cubes, pour in rum and lime juice, stir gently, and then top it off with club soda. Garnish with extra mint, blueberries, and a lime wheel –and enjoy!
Recipe tips and FAQs
- Don’t over-muddle. The goal is to mash the blueberries just until they burst and bruise the mint leaves just enough to release their oils. Breaking down the mint too much can make it taste bitter, so be gentle!
- Strain for a smoother sip. If you don’t want bits of mint and blueberry skin in your drink, strain the muddled mixture through a fine mesh sieve before returning it to the glass and building the rest of the drink.
- Use the proper glassware. A tall glass, such as a highball or Collins glass, provides ample space for the muddled ingredients, liquids, and lots of ice.
- Elevate your ice. If you have time, freeze blueberries and mint in your ice cubes. Not only do they look beautiful in the glass, but they also add a hint of flavor as they melt.
Variations
- Lemon lavender mojito – Swap the lime juice for freshly squeezed lemon juice to keep the drink floral and refreshing, but with a more tangy, citrus taste.
- Blackberry lavender mojito – Swap the blueberries for blackberries (both in the syrup and muddled in the glass) to give the mojito a deeper berry flavor and hue.
- Coconut lavender mojito – Add a splash of coconut water and replace white rum with coconut rum to double down on the tropical vibes.
Of course –just leave out the rum! You’ll still get all that vibrant flavor from the lavender, mint, berries, and lime, plus the bubbles from the club soda in a refreshing, alcohol-free version.
If your mojito is too sweet for your tastes, try adding more fresh lime juice or club soda to balance it out. On the other hand, if it’s too tart, add a touch more simple syrup or muddle in a few extra blueberries to round out the flavor.
White rum is traditional in mojitos, but you can experiment with other clear spirits with light, clean flavors. Try a neutral vodka to let the blueberry and lavender shine or a botanical gin for a more herbaceous take.
Storing
- To store any leftover mojito, strain out the solids and refrigerate just the liquid in a sealed container for 1-2 days. Note that the carbonation from the club soda will go flat over time.
- To store the simple syrup, refrigerate it in a mason jar or bottle with a tight-sealing lid for up to 1 week or freeze it in ice cube trays and thaw as needed.
