Editorial Policy

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Amee, the creator behind Amee’s Savory Dish—a space dedicated to high-protein, healthy-ish recipes that celebrate flavor, simplicity, and the joy of gathering around the table.

The recipes on this blog are written, tested, and photographed entirely by me, a passionate home cook, cancer survivor, and certified personal trainer and nutrition coach, who truly loves feeding her people. Everything I share with you is made in my home kitchen and served to my real family and friends. If they don’t love it, it doesn’t make the cut.

My Commitment to Quality

Since launching this blog in 2010, I’ve continually evolved to meet higher standards in both recipe development and photography. I’ve taken countless cooking classes, devoured hundreds of cookbooks, and honed my skills to make sure every recipe here is worth your time—and your groceries.

I also spend a lot of time updating older content to reflect what I’ve learned over the years, so you’ll often see posts refreshed with new tips, updated instructions, and better visuals. I want you to have the best possible experience in your kitchen.

Every Recipe is Made from Scratch—By Me

There’s no team behind the scenes—just me, my camera, and my family, who happily act as taste-testers (they consider it a perk). Many of the recipes you see here are inspired by family traditions, Southern roots, meals shared with friends, or dishes I’ve enjoyed at restaurants. I love taking classic recipes and giving them a healthy twist—without sacrificing comfort or flavor.

I also focus on efficiency—offering prep-ahead tips, shortcuts when they make sense, and ideas to simplify your cooking routine, whether it’s a busy weeknight or a holiday gathering.

Tested in a Real Kitchen

Every recipe is made in my home kitchen with everyday appliances and tools. I test each one at least once—often many more times as I revisit old favorites—and I continuously refine them to be as foolproof as possible. If I discover a better technique or ingredient swap, I update the post with fresh tips and clear instructions.

You can always find the most recent update date listed near the top of the recipe post.

Accuracy and Transparency

I strive to provide recipes that are written in a clear and easy-to-follow manner, using measurements and ingredients that are readily available in most grocery stores. I carefully test cooking times and temperatures, but if I ever make a mistake, I’ll correct it immediately.

Again—real kitchen, real human here. If something seems off or unclear, feel free to reach out. I genuinely want your version of the dish to be just as successful as mine.

Food Photography with Integrity

All of the photography on this site is done by me using mostly natural light. What you see on your screen is exactly what I served at my table—no fake food tricks, props, or non-edible substitutes.

While I aim to plate the food beautifully, I never compromise the integrity of the recipe for a photo. I may lightly edit for brightness, contrast, or color correction, and occasionally clean up a stray sauce smear—but that’s it. My goal is for your finished dish to look just like the picture, and taste even better.
