Notes
*Protein amount varies depending on the type of protein powder used
Use a high-power blender. To get that perfectly smooth texture, a high-speed blender (like a Vitamix or Ninja) has what it takes to break down the ice, frozen fruit, and seeds thoroughly, so you don’t end up with any gritty bits in your shake.
Add sweetener strategically. If your protein powder is already sweetened (which most are!), you can skip adding sweetener. Blend first, taste, and adjust accordingly. That way, you don’t accidentally go overboard.
Make it extra creamy. Using frozen berries and ice will result in a protein slushy of sorts. For a more cohesive, Frosty-like texture, try adding ¼ teaspoon of guar gum or xanthan gum to stabilize the liquids and create a thick, creamy texture without adding any extra calories or sugar. You can also freeze your milk of choice in ice cube trays and use instead of ice.
