Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

For the strawberry layer:

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 packet stevia or 1 tsp honey

For the matcha layer:

  • ½ cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice
  • 5.3 oz vanilla Greek yogurt *I use Oikos pro for a protein boost
  • ½ banana frozen & sliced into coins for easy blending
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp cermemonial grade matcha
  • 30 grams vanilla whey protein powder *optional but adds a nice protein boost
  • 1 cup ice

Instructions

  • In a blender container, add the frozen strawberries, ½ cup almond milk, vanilla, and stevia.
  • Blend until smooth and pour into the bottom of two glasses (or one for one large serving).
  • Rinse out the blender, then add the matcha layer ingredients: ½ cup almond milk, Greek yogurt, frozen banana, honey, matcha, and ice.
  • Blend until smooth and it pour over the top of the blended strawberry layer in the glass and enjoy. Garnish with fresh strawberries, if desired.

Notes

  • Consistency. You can adjust the amount of ice (in the matcha layer) and the amount of milk (in the strawberry layer) to achieve your desired thickness.
  • Use frozen fruit. Frozen strawberries and bananas are the key to that perfect thick, creamy consistency in both layers. If you use fresh fruit, add extra ice to compensate.
  • Adjust sweetness. The amount of stevia or honey you need depends on the ripeness of your fruit and personal taste. Start with a small amount and taste as you go. Remember, you can always add a little more, but reducing sweetness is more challenging once it’s too sweet.
  • Chill your glasses ahead of time. A cold glass keeps your smoothie cooler longer, making it extra refreshing on a warm day.
