Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef I used 92% lean
  • 6 slices bacon diced into 1" pieces
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 16 oz can pork and beans
  • 15 oz can kidney beans
  • 15 oz can lima beans
  • 15 oz can butter beans
  • ½ cup brown sugar can sub coconut sugar
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard or yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and fresh ground pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Heat a Dutch oven (or large oven-proof skillet) over medium heat and add ground beef and diced bacon. Cook until the ground beef is no longer pink. Add the onions and sauté until softened.
  • Drain any grease and add the beef mixture back to the pot.
  • Add the canned beans and remaining ingredients to the pot. Stir well to combine.
  • Bake for 45 minutes at 325 degrees, or simmer on the stovetop for 1 hour.

Notes

For a thicker casserole, drain the butter beans and limas before adding them to the pot.
