The under-30-minute timing needs a little caveat if the toothpicks aren’t already soaking. They need 30 minutes in water, while the recipe card lists 21 minutes total, so starting them when the bacon goes in could leave you waiting before wrapping the shrimp. I’d soak the toothpicks first, then get the ancho-adobo mix and bacon ready.

In reply to Dawn Mechler. Yes, it can Dawn. I would broil them and watch closely so they don't burn. The shrimp won't take long to cook and you want the bacon to get a little crispy.
